My name is Giulio Carducci, I am 31 years old and I am a Computer Engineer. After my Bachelor Degree in L'Aquila, my home town, I earned my Master Degree at Politecnico di Torino, with the Thesis "Semantic Analysis to Compute Personality Traits from Social Media posts", where I studied how it is possible to determine the personality of a person based on the words he/she uses in Social Networks, more specifically Twitter. I worked on the Thesis in the Istituto Superiore Mario Boella (ISMB), a research center that collaborates with Politecnico di Torino and studies several ICT-related fields with innovative approaches.

After my Master Degree I won a scholarship funded by University of Turin, which involves a research activity for the department of Philosophy and Educational Sciences for the project REPOSUM. The activity consists in the analysis of a corpus of metadata on italian and english PhD dissertations using several natural language processing and semantic analysis techniques, with the goal of extracting relevant pieces of information, such as the specific subject of the thesis, concepts or relevant keywords mentioned in the text.

I love scientific research as it pushes me into always giving 100%. I had my first experience in this field during my University studies, when I spent 5 months in a research center of the University of Bremen with the European program Erasmus+. I face different problems each time which require to devise specifically-tailored solutions, which are then transormed into lines of code. I love programming and learning new languages and libraries, yet it often happens that I find myself spending more time on studying the problem in order to find a solution than actually working on its implementation, and that's what I love about my job.

I am also passionate about photography and outdoor sports, such as mountain biking, skiing and rock climbing. I also like trekking, which is a great opportunity to capture beatiful landscapes with my Nikon d750. I like experimenting new techniques and compositions, and taking pictures of whatever captures my attention. I started with landscape and street photography, but I recently started to practice with night photography. I love my region, Abruzzo; with its beautiful landscapes ranging from 3000 metres-high mountains to marine nature reserves, it is my favourite subject for my pictures.
